Photographer and video director Danny Clinch (American, b. 1964) has been capturing music greats like Tupac Shakur, Beyonce, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen on his Leica since the early ‘90s. A former intern of Annie Leibovitz, Clinch gravitated naturally to portraiture. His easy-going, low-key shots have appeared in the likes of Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair, and three books, including Still Moving, which American Photo named one of their Best Photobooks of 2014. Clinch gets powerful onstage shots, but it is the quiet, intimate portraits that make him the master: "It's not about the singer at the microphone singing,”Clinch has said. I'm trying to look for … a moment in between."
