Hank Willis Thomas (American, b.1967) is a photographer closely linked with the Conceptual Art movement. His work speaks to issues of identity, specifically relating to the African American community, and how outside influences such as the media and socio-political climate inform and shape one’s definition of themself. Over the course of his career, Thomas’ work has been exhibited internationally at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, and the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., among others.
