Based in Los Angeles, Jonas Wood (American, b. 1977) is noted for his honest, graphic interpretations of plants, domestic interiors, and sports imagery. Reminiscent of Alex Katz and David Hockney, Wood uses a flat perspective to highlight the geometric patterns and colors within everyday scenes, creating a “visual diary.” His prints and paintings have been exhibited internationally, and are held within the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Art; the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, among others.
