Juan Downey (Chilean b. 1940-1993) is a video, mixed media, installation and performance artist whose works address the increasing intersections of technology and art. Littered throughout his complex works are references to both Latin American and Western cultures, elaborating a continuous questioning of the self and identity. His work was the subject of a major retrospective at the Bronx Museum in 2012, and features in major public collections such as the MoMA in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
