Photographer Nick Brandt (English, b. 1964) works tirelessly to document the vanishing grandeur of East Africa and the destructive impact of man on nature. His sympathetic images memorialize the inherent natural majesty of cheetahs, elephants, lions, and hippos, while juxtaposing them with bleak, industrial landscapes. In an urgent response to increased poaching in Africa, he launched the non-profit ‘Big Life Foundation’ in 2010 to conserve Africa’s wildlife and ecosystems.
