Ron Galella

Ron Galella (American, b. 1931) is recognized as a pioneering paparazzo, responsible for immortalizing celebrities and iconic figures with his trove of more than three million images. After serving as a United States Air Force photographer during the Korean War, he earned a degree in photojournalism from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, California. Making his start by covering movie premieres in Los Angeles, Galella’s images were featured in publications like Time, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, and the New York Times. Now recognized for their artistic merit, his photographs have been exhibited internationally at the MoMA in New York, the Tate Modern in London among others.
