Ross Bleckner (American, b. 1949) is an artist who currently lives and works in New York. He studied at New York University with Sol LeWitt and Chuck Close before earning his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1973. His work is largely based on the exploration of change, loss, and memory, often addressing the subject of AIDS. In 2009, he was the first artist to be awarded the title of Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations.
