Wayne Thiebaud (American, b. 1920) is an artist best known for portraying colorful, sugary objects and treats, such as ice creams, candy, hot dogs, and pies. He was greatly influenced by Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, and Robert Rauschenberg, and his nostalgic images can be found within the public collections of the Whitney Museum, LACMA, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and more. In 1994, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts.
