One of the most influential sculptors of this century, Anish Kapoor (British-Indian, b. 1954) excels at combining geometric forms into feats of engineering and artistic prowess. His earlier work consisted of large, biomorphic sculptures made from natural materials, such as granite, limestone, and marble. Expanding his practice to larger public commissions, his projects include ‘Cloud Gate’ (2004) in Chicago’s Millennium Park and ‘Orbit’ (2012) in London’s Olympic Park. In 1990, he represented Great Britain at the Venice Biennale. He later was awarded the Turner Prize and a Knighthood.
