Cellular 19 is influenced by images of a section of the Tilia tree stem viewed through a microscope. This is a giclee print on archival paper, which I painted electronically. The work evokes the earth’s verdure, which created the conditions for the advent and maintenance of life, while its vivid colors suggest the primary role light plays in the process. In my current series, entitled Cellular, the focus is on the primary unit, the basic cell of life. I am inspired by biological cell structures, their inherent light, and their universality.
