Barbara Kruger (American, b. 1945) is a conceptual artist best known for her post-modern feminist works. Drawing from a background in graphic design, many of the New Jersey native’s works combine black and white photographic imagery with bold declarative text. Adopting and adapting the artistic traditions of agitprop, Kruger’s work are direct, yet clever critiques of modern society, contemporary politics, religion, and gender relations.
