Bert Stern (American, 1929-2013) was a legendary figure in the world of contemporary photography. He quickly rose to prominence in the 1960s thanks to his advertising work, which included a design for Smirnoff Vodka in which an Egyptian pyramid appears inverted inside a martini glass. His best-known work is arguably “Marilyn Monroe: The Last Sitting”, a collection of 2,500 photographs of Marilyn taken for Vogue over a three-day period six weeks before the actress' death.
