In this series, ‘Centerfold,’ pornographic magazines from the 1980s depict a contrived male fantasy of a “lesbian afternoon.” While the women’s bodies are posed and arranged like objects in a still life, neglected props and houseplants seem to possess a life of their own. Becoming a stand-in for the passage of time, the scanner slowly logs the intimate details of floral specimens and photographic fragments, cutting into the stagecraft of sex with a femme gaze.
