Christopher (Chris) Ofili (English, b.1968) is a Turner Prize-winning painter whose work has been renowned since the mid-1990s. He has come to be known for his vibrant paintings and works on paper that simultaneously celebrate black culture as well as expose the darker undercurrents of society. Though sometimes controversial, Ofili often uses racial stereotypes in his works as a means to challenge and reinterpret them. Since 2005, Ofili has been living and working in Trinidad.
