An archetypal work of figurative abstraction, “Sleepwalker” is an emotive depiction of a figure navigating its way through the darkness. Hands reach out toward the viewer, doubtful of what is before it. True to many of the works in Schutz’ oeuvre, the piece conveys feelings of uncertainty and isolation through the juxtaposition of vibrant color against a dark background.
