Martin Luther King Memorial on the National Mall.
David Burnett notes: This photograph of the MLK memorial was made the first time I had actually seen it. I was trouping around the Mall, and turned the corner after the FDR Memorial to see this incredibly powerful rendering of King, surrounded by a field of moody clouds. I was virtually alone at the time, and the feeling of intimacy, of understanding what the sculptor had aimed for, was just about perfect.
