In a departure from the artist’s found-material sculptures, ‘Untitled’ brings a formal integrity to print by emulating collage and mosaic techniques. Composed of miniature squares, warm tones of yellow, orange, red, and white create a palette reminiscent of Gustav Klimt.

About El Anatsui

El Anatsui (Ghanian, b.1944) is a sculptor renowned for his works that transform found materials into a unique form of media, a hybrid between sculpture and painting. Often site-specific, his works span a myriad of cultural and historical references, drawing upon aesthetic traditions inherent to his birth country of Ghana, his adopted home of Nigeria as well as Western culture. His works have been exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània in Barcelona, as well as the Venice Biennale.
