California-based painter Greg Gong (American, b. 1971) builds up his abstract paintings through calligraphic, looping scrawls of pigment, occasionally sanding down layers of paint to reveal underlying areas of color. Gong’s work is held in the Hort Family Collection and has been exhibited at Shane Campbell Gallery in Chicago, Luce Gallery in Turin, and the Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte in Naples.
