Taxidermy Spencer Gulf prawn*
Redefining the conventionally macabre with an almost satirical, contemporary pop feel is the heartlands of Harriet Horton’s art. Like Poe’s The Raven reimagined in a physical form with a neon backdrop.
Prawn in red gradient case is Horton’s latest gothic taxidermy brought into the vivid, and playful, light. One ethically-sourced, taxidermy prawn is housed within a coloured, red glass box. A silicone cast sits inside the naturally mottled exoskeleton with sharpened, samurai steel antennas. The prawn is finished with a clear resin for durability.
Horton is Artist in residence at Sarabande, The Lee Alexander McQueen Foundation. She is largely self-taught, and currently lives in London. *zero food waste, all meat from every taxidermy prawn has been consumed
