Painter Hurvin Anderson (English, b. 1965) uses his artistic practice to reconnect with his roots. Born in Britain, Anderson’s Jamaican heritage is constantly explored in his depictions of Caribbean landscapes and culture. Influenced and mentored by Peter Doig, Anderson’s works have been exhibited in London, New York, and Tokyo, and are held within the collections of MoMA, New York, and the Tate. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2017.
