Description

Inspired by old school video games, Invader produces work that riffs on the classic 8-bit aesthetic. For this print, he employs brightly colored squares of color, reminiscent of Rubik’s cubes or vintage arcade games, to create his own distinct take on a canonical work by Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein.

About Invader

Invader (French, b. 1969) is the pseudonym of a street artist best known for his intricate tile mosaics depicting images drawn from popular culture, namely 8-bit video games. Invader’s works have appeared worldwide, in cities as diverse as Paris, Mombasa, Bangkok, and Miami, with public commissions appearing in major cities in Japan, South Korea, and the United States, as well as other countries. In recent years, Invader has begun to create works using Rubik’s Cubes, which he manipulates and molds into colorful, mosaic-like works, in addition to prints, posters, and preassembled “Invasion Kits.”
