As a multi-media artist, Jim Drain incorporates a variety of materials, methods, and concepts to create uniquely formed compositions. Drain is known for uniting punk aesthetic with appropriated imagery and surrealist use of free-association to create complex webs of collaged information. Here, Drain betrays two-dimensional sensibility by instigating perception of depth through the inclusion of poems formed from cut out letters seemingly floating on top of a photograph and horizontally-striped piece of textile.
