As a mixed media artist and member of the Forcefield collective, Jim Drain’s (American, b. 1975) oeuvre consists of a medley of many elements. From large-scale murals to fabric sculptures, his work is recognizable by its vibrantly saturated colors and psychedelic patterns, eliciting a visceral viewing experience. His work can be found within the permanent collections of MoMA, the Whitney Museum, the Perez Art Museum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Exhibitions and installations of his work include PRISM Gallery, Los Angeles; the Bass, Miami; and the Coney Art Walls, New York. His is an artist in residence at the Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, and won the Bâloise Prize in 2005.
