Description

Typical of the artist’s oeuvre, this poster, which reproduces Jonas Wood’s ‘8 Etchings’ (2014), depicts a stark domestic interior in black and white. It was created in conjunction with the artist’s 2018 exhibit ‘Jonas Wood: Prints’ at New York's Gagosian Gallery. Wood's incorporates a playful basketball zero in his signature and date, a cheeky allusion to one of the artist's favorite subjects.

About Jonas Wood

Based in Los Angeles, Jonas Wood (American, b. 1977) is noted for his honest, graphic interpretations of plants, domestic interiors, and sports imagery. Reminiscent of Alex Katz and David Hockney, Wood uses a flat perspective to highlight the geometric patterns and colors within everyday scenes, creating a “visual diary.” His prints and paintings have been exhibited internationally, and are held within the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Art; the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, among others.
