Jonas Wood’s ‘Bball Studio’ is a voyeuristic glimpse of that hallowed space, the artist’s atelier. In simple lines, this unfussy etching presents the viewer with a stark landscape, where a genius hones his talents and practices his craft. This work is accompanied by a 160-page monograph and a screen printed tote bag, both of which sport a more detailed and colored depiction of the artist’s studio.

Based in Los Angeles, Jonas Wood (American, b. 1977) is noted for his honest, graphic interpretations of plants, domestic interiors, and sports imagery. Reminiscent of Alex Katz and David Hockney, Wood uses a flat perspective to highlight the geometric patterns and colors within everyday scenes, creating a “visual diary.” His prints and paintings have been exhibited internationally, and are held within the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Art; the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, among others.
