About Jonni Cheatwood

Jonni Cheatwood is a Los Angeles-based visual artist working across a variety of media, such as painting, photography, graphic design, and fashion. With ideas stemming from abstraction and minimalism, Cheatwood's practice focuses on the process of deconstruction and reconstruction, from stitching canvases to layering of shapes. The distinct layers of ambiguous shapes, patches of colors, and graffiti-like scribbles are brought together and molded at the focal point of the composition to form a narrative that does more than tell a story. Both intentional and accidental, Cheatwood’s art is an interdisciplinary experimentation in urban subculture, artistic methods, as well as interaction of colors and forms.
