Katherine Bernhardt’s 'Cheeseburger Deluxe' incorporates the graphic brand of contemporary imagery for which the artist is best known—in this case, red and blue cheeseburgers, golden fries, and a matching pair of Nike sneakers, all alongside bold, decorative triangles. Renowned for her unique technique and easy embrace of quotidian subjects, Bernhardt’s clever pattern paintings explore objects as varied as toilet paper, Sharpies, and bananas.

Katherine Bernhardt (American, b. 1975) is a contemporary artist who lives and works in New York City. Inspired by metropolitan excess and glamour, Bernhardt offers both a scathing and accepting review of contemporary culture by virtue of her caricature-esque demoiselles, her subject of choice. Her works describe the desire, the passion and the furtive embrace of societal norms within a confrontational context.
