About Kenny Scharf

Kenny Scharf (American, b. 1958) became a leading figure of the New York art world during the 1980s. In this vibrant decade of artistic revolution, Scharf collaborated with fellow artists and friends, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. In a similar vein, his oeuvre draws upon the aesthetic and techniques favored in graffiti, cartoon animation, and the graphic novel. Examples of Scharf’s work can be found in permanent collections across the globe, such as as the Whitney Museum of American Art and Cologne’s Museum Ludwig.
