In “French Riviera,” street photographer Laurent Roch turns his camera to the mediterranean coastline. Taken at a distance, the beachgoers appear tiny against the expanse of calm water. A group waits their turn to dive into the sea, while one swimmer plunges from the highest perch—the photograph capturing him in midair.

Laurent Roch (French, b. 1970) is known for his black and white street photographs. Picking up a strong attention to detail in photographs from his father, Roch began to photograph what he saw while a teenager, developing his skill over time. Similar to the black and white Italian movies of the 50s, Roch is able to capture moments of ordinary life of people on the street, with a heavy focus on atmosphere and fleeting emotions. Roch is currently working and living in Alpes-Maritimes.
