Laurent Roch’s “Le Plongeoir, French Riviera” captures the joy and adventure of diving. Two men are frozen midair with limbs extended, while their peers contemplate the expanse of water before them. Poignantly, the part of sea that the divers will inevitably enter remains just out of frame.

Laurent Roch (French, b. 1970) is known for his black and white street photographs. Picking up a strong attention to detail in photographs from his father, Roch began to photograph what he saw while a teenager, developing his skill over time. Similar to the black and white Italian movies of the 50s, Roch is able to capture moments of ordinary life of people on the street, with a heavy focus on atmosphere and fleeting emotions. Roch is currently working and living in Alpes-Maritimes.
