About Martin Whatson

Martin Whatson (Norwegian, b. 1984) is a stencil artist whose whose practice is centered around finding beauty in degradation, blending the graphic aesthetics of graffiti with the gritty effects of urban decay. Inspired by the work of artists José Parlá and Cy Twombly, Whatson creates vibrant works that reference and imagine the evolution of the walls they decorate. Whatson’s work has been exhibited internationally, with murals painted in locales as varied as Miami, Rome, and Manchester, England.
