Although breaking from her well known style of iridescently colored, line-based prints, Maya Hayuk’s acrylic on canvas work 'Who Loves the Sun' remains firmly a part of her oeuvre. In line with her overall motif, this painting continues Hayuk’s approach to her works–focusing on abstract subject matter that is often marked with vertical symmetry.

Maya Hayuk (American, b. 1969) is a street artist known for her murals and abstract compositions. Her works are largely symmetrical, using intricate patterns and lush colors to create massively scaled murals. Inspired by traditional Ukrainian crafts, mandalas, and even manicures, her projects reference both psychedelic aesthetics and popular culture. She has exhibited at the Hammer Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, and the famous Bowery Wall in New York.
