Although breaking from her well known style of iridescently colored, line-based prints, Maya Hayuk’s acrylic on canvas work 'Who Loves the Sun' remains firmly a part of her oeuvre. In line with her overall motif, this painting continues Hayuk’s approach to her works–focusing on abstract subject matter that is often marked with vertical symmetry.

Maya Hayuk (American, b. 1969) is an American street artist known for her mural scale works and abstract compositions. Her works are largely symmetrical, taking intricate patterns and lush colors to create massively scaled murals that take from traditional Ukrainian crafts, manicures, and mandalas that refer at once to both psychedelic experience and popular culture. She received her BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and has studied at V.C.U. Richmond, Ontario College of Art and Design, and the University of Odessa.
