Mel Ramos’s (American, 1935-2018) works are a twist on the pop-art genre by parodying common brands. Ramos produced paintings, prints, sculptures and tapestries with his works often centering upon distinctive pin-up styled nudes situated against well-known brands and settings. After graduating in 1958 from Sacramento State College with an M.A., Ramos served as an artist-in-residence at Syracuse University in 1970 and at the University of Wisconsin in 1973. In 1986, he was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artists Fellowship Grant, along with being represented in major museum collections around the globe.
