With a technical mastery of depth, shadow, and color, Miguel Florido creates the illusion of three-dimensional fabric within a two-dimensional oil painting. Part of his ‘Papeles’ series, ‘Dejame Amerte’ brilliantly depicts a wrinkled bedsheet or crumpled piece of paper in arresting detail. Its rich, ombre tones of violet provide balance and a sense of tranquility to the chaotic nature of the painted creases.

Artist Miguel Florido (Cuban, b. 1980) was born in Havana, Cuba, where he presently resides and works. Though he received no formal arts education and is largely self-taught, his work is heavily influenced by the still life traditions of the Baroque era. His works are intimately detailed and life-like in their depictions of sweeping landscapes, still lifes, and wrinkled fabrics.
