Known for large-scale photos of the human form, Mona Kuhn (Brazilian, b. 1969) challenges conceptions of the naked body and eroticism, rendering classical themes in dream-like images. Often developing close relationships with her subjects, Kuhn produces images of comfortable intimacy. Her first monograph was 2005’s Photographs. Kuhn studied at The Ohio State University and the San Francisco Art Institute, and is now an independent scholar at The Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited and/or included in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the J. Paul Getty Museum and the International Center of Photography, New York.
