Hutchings' work manipulates themes of retro-futurism, speculative futurism, the absurd and the awkward. This series references prototype NASA dummies, Donna Haraway’s “A Cyborg Manifesto” and Timothy Morton’s “Dark Ecology,” with a subtle nod to the French portrait, Gabrielle d’Estrées and One of Her Sisters, from 1594.
