About Paul Insect

Paul Insect (British, b. 1971), who also works under the name “PINS,” creates pop-inflected images that combine a detailed, realistic style with colorful absurdism. Influenced by Dada, Insect often merges patterns and portraiture to remark on the interplay between the visible and the invisible, the private and the public self. Juxtaposing primary colors, clean shapes, and crisp lines with areas of pixelation, Insect’s distinct style has achieved success in galleries as well as on the street. His first exhibition, ‘Bullion’ at the Lazarides Gallery, London, sold out to fellow artist Damien Hirst before opening to the public.
