About Raymond Pettibon

Raymond Pettibon (American, b. 1957) grew up in Southern California and earned a degree in economics from UCLA. He became a math teacher, but soon after launched a career as a professional artist by designing the logo and creating concert flyers for his brother’s band, Black Flag. He is most known for his comic-like drawings with disturbing, ironic or ambiguous text. This subject matter is sometimes violent or anti-authoritarian and often humorous. Pettibon lives and works in New York.
