First created in 2006 as a full scale, hand carved wood block print, ‘Mortimer and Jenkins’ depicts two dressed skeletons fighting with a rolled-up newspaper and fishing rod. Its imagery directly references James Ensor’s painting ‘Skeletons Fighting Over the Body of a Hanged Man,’ and provides a dark and whimsical depiction of human nature.
Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner
