In the present piece by Tim Hailand, a standalone portrait of a young man in a wooded drive is delicately adorned with a faint floral patterning. The artist’s unique artistic style established throughout his oeuvre is a testament to an appreciation of the male form. In his photographs, the notions of masculinity and beauty naturally coexist. Hailand’s artistic practice incorporates the use of fabric upon which the photographs are printed, echoing his interest and appreciation for the Toile de Jouy wallpaper he encountered during his time spent in an artist’s residency program at Monet’s Giverny.
